We want our HGAR members to get involved — lobbying for homeowners, planning exciting events, and taking part in charitable fundraising. As a member, this is where you can shape the future of real estate education, spread the word about HGAR benefits, and explore cultural diversity opportunities. You're sure to find something that interests you.

 

Legislative Council

The Legislative Council advocates for legislation and regulations to benefit Realtors and homeowners and lobbies against measures that could harm Realtors and homeowners. It maintains a dialogue between HGAR and the local and regional political communities. Meetings are held quarterly.

  • RPAC CommitteeThe Realtor Political Action Committee supports and protects the interest of real estate professionals and consumers by helping to elect candidates who understand our business interests and our concerns regarding homeownership. This committee plans RPAC fundraising events. Meetings are held bi-monthly.

 

Education Council

The Education Council assists in determining policy for HGAR’s School of Real Estate, identifies new courses and establishes evaluation procedures for the delivery of licensing, continuing education and general education classes. It also assists in developing policy for hiring and training the faculty and maintains an active role with DOS regulations regarding real estate education. Meetings are held bi-monthly.

 

Global Business & Cultural Diversity Council (Currently filled – wait list available)

This Council helps create Global Business opportunities and Education for our members and creates opportunities for appreciating and understanding cultural diversity in our business practices.  Meetings are held bi-monthly.

 

Fair Housing Committee

This Committee develops education and programs to assist members in staying on top of fair housing practices and issues. It also supervises equal opportunity outreach from Realtors to the general public. Meetings are held 3 to 4 times a year.

 

Recognition Committee

Selects the HGAR Realtor and Affiliate of the Year, plus other awards such as the Extra Mile, Spirit Award and Legislative Advocacy Award. This committee also recommends the NYSAR Realtor of the Year candidates. Only Realtor Members can serve on this committee.  Meetings are held 3 to 4 times a year.

 

Professional Standards Council (by invitation)

This Committee resolves business and ethical disputes between Realtors, and with customers and clients. Special training and experience is required to serve on this council and its committees.

  • Grievance CommitteeProcesses complaints and disputes.
  • PanelistsMembers are on call for ethics and arbitration hearings.
  • Mediators and OmbudsmenHelp resolve disputes without formal hearings.

 

Members Day Workgroup (Currently filled – wait list available)

This group will plan HGAR Annual Meeting and Member Appreciation Day. This group meets 4 - 5 times a year.

 

Hudson Gateway Realtor Foundation Committees

The HG Realtor Foundation Committees support the efforts and programs of the Hudson Gateway Realtor Foundation, which makes charitable contributions to Hudson Valley non-profit organizations.

  • Program Committee (Currently filled – wait list available): Plans hands-on Volunteer events at area non-profits throughout the year. Meetings are held quarterly.
  • Fundraising Committee: Manages events and fundraising efforts including an annual holiday party and gala. Meetings are monthly.

 

Young Professionals Network (YPN) (steering committee – by invitation)

This group of young and young-to-the-business Realtors will plan events ranging from informational and training events to social and charitable activities as it focuses on the specific needs and interests of its members. This group meets 4 - 5 times a year for planning.

 

Other Opportunities

Women's Council of Realtors: The WCR is a network empowering women to exercise their potentials as entrepreneurs and industry leaders.
